A TIFFA scan, also known as the Level II Ultrasound or Anomaly Scan, is a detailed fetal ultrasound performed during pregnancy to check for structural abnormalities in the baby. Typically done between 18 to 22 weeks of pregnancy.
What it checks:

Face & neck - cleft lip/palate, facial structures
Heart (Fetal Echo) - chambers, valves, major vessels
Abdomen & organs - stomach, kidneys, liver, bladder, intestines
Limbs & bones - hands, legs, fingers, fractures or deformities
Placenta, amniotic fluid & umbilical cord
Baby’s growth, position & movement
Why it’s done:

To detect birth defects early
Maternal risk factors - diabetes, thyroid, hypertension
Family history of genetic disorders
IVF or high-risk pregnancy
Follow-up if previous scan was abnormal
NOTE: Revealing gender is legally prohibited in India under PC & PNDT Act.
