Ultrasound - Scrotum (also known as Scrotal or Testicular Ultrasound) is a non-invasive, high-resolution imaging test used to evaluate the testes, epididymis, and scrotal contents. It is the primary modality for assessing scrotal symptoms and abnormalities.
What it checks:
Testicular swelling or pain
Hydrocele - fluid around the testis
Varicocele - enlarged veins (similar to varicose veins)
Epididymitis / Orchitis - infection or inflammation
Testicular torsion - twisting of testis (emergency)
Cysts, tumors, or lumps
Undescended testis in children
Why it’s done:
Scrotal pain, swelling, or sudden discomfort
Lump or heaviness in testicle
Infertility evaluation (varicocele commonly affects fertility)
Trauma or injury to scrotum
Suspected infection, abscess, or torsion
Monitoring after surgery or treatment
