A neck ultrasound is a non-invasive imaging technique that uses sound waves to visualize structures in the neck. It is commonly used to assess thyroid, lymph nodes, salivary glands, and soft tissues.
 
What it checks:
Thyroid gland - size, nodules, cysts, thyroiditis
Lymph nodes - swelling, infection, or suspected cancer spread
Salivary glands (parotid & submandibular) - stones, infections, tumors
Soft tissue lumps - cysts, abscess, lipoma, or other masses
Post-thyroid surgery follow-up
 
Why it’s done:
Neck swelling or lump
Thyroid enlargement (goiter) or suspected thyroid disorder
Lymph node enlargement or infection
Difficulty swallowing, pain, or voice change
Follow-up for thyroid surgery, nodules, or cancer
