Ultrasound KUB with Post Void Residue (PVR) is a diagnostic ultrasound scan of the Kidneys, Ureters, and Bladder (KUB), followed by measurement of residual urine in the bladder after the patient voids (urinates).
What it checks:
Kidneys - stones, swelling (hydronephrosis), cysts, infections
Ureters - dilation or blockage due to stones or obstruction
Urinary Bladder - wall thickness, tumors, diverticula
Post Void Residue (PVR) - amount of urine left after passing urine, helps assess bladder emptying
Why it’s done:
Frequent urination or difficulty passing urine
Burning sensation or urinary tract infections (UTI)
Suspected kidney stones or blockage
Enlarged prostate (in males)
Incomplete bladder emptying or urinary retention
Bedwetting or bladder dysfunction in children and adults
