A combined abdominal and pelvic ultrasound uses sound waves to examine both upper abdominal organs and pelvic organs in one scan. It gives a complete picture of the liver, kidneys, uterus/ovaries (in women), prostate/bladder (in men), and other internal structures.
What it checks:
In Women:
Uterus – size, fibroids, adenomyosis
Ovaries – cysts, follicles, PCOS
Endometrium – thickness, polyps
Urinary bladder & pelvic fluid
In Men:
Urinary bladder - wall thickness, residual urine
Prostate & seminal vesicles (if enlarged or obstructed)
Common for Both (Abdomen):
Liver - fatty liver, cirrhosis, cysts
Gallbladder - stones, infection, polyps
Kidneys & ureters - stones, swelling, cysts
Pancreas & spleen - inflammation, enlargement, masses
Aorta & major vessels
Why it’s done:
Lower or upper abdominal pain
Irregular periods, PCOD, infertility (women)
Suspected fibroids, ovarian cysts, kidney/gallbladder stones
Frequent urination, prostate issues (men)
Unexplained bloating, bleeding, infections
Routine health check or follow-up in chronic conditions
